This is the beginning test for my scene, still alot of work to be done on building design, position and creation (there are quite a few buiildings that are just placehodlers). This is mostly to see if I can create a mood that I like to begin develping in. Still need to figure out where to put the tube. :P

I photoshopped the background and light flares in just to get a feel for it. Please let me know if something is technically off.

I am intending on adding either buildings or stalagtites (Or is it mites? :P) that are coming from the "ceiling" of the potato, the tube, and additional small elements to aid in scale and depth.

Good start. However, technically...it's a bit off in terms of the atmosphere. I'm assuming that you have yet to read the book. :) Anyway, the chambers are lit by the tube. No sun and very little hints of an atmosphere except I think in the 6th chamber (rain). At least that's what I remember. Don't have the book anymore as it was a library copy.

Of course, not really necessary to match everything in the book as there should be some artistic freedom. :)

This is a nice start. The composition, the perspective are all in good touch.Altough I would keep the volumetric light at a minimum at this point so you can fiddle around with it later in the final stages. Also try a more panoramic view.

Cheers!

I really like the lighting, especially the specular bloom on the rooftops. Anxious to see more progress, keep it up man!
