View Full Version : Blendshapes - exploding with bones

Helloo,

I've got a small blendshape issue developing.
they work fine until i start moving the bones that the blendshapes are bound to.

I created the different mouths, made them all into blendshapes. the blendshapes are working fine. then I bound all the objects to my skeleton (character is one mesh, not in parts except for eyes), all is still fine. the blendshape sliders move the mouths perfectly.
But when the bones move, everything goes haywire. check out my links for pictures.

before bones moved

after moving bones

maybe it was something i did earlier in the modelling? I know just before i went deform-create blendshapes, i had to combine the teeth to the body of each model(not just parent) to get the teeth to work in the blendshape.
i hope i'm not too confusing.
i don't know, maybe something is obvious to you guy's.

cheers

I got the bloody thing working.
what i did was keep my base shape attached to the bones. then select the targets and main, and create the blendshapes.
If i moved the sliders at this point, the character would return back to the orig modelled pose. sooo, i then attached the rest of the shapes to the skeleton. and it worked....

if this makes sense to someone, please let me know. if not, i'll just crawl under my rock of misscommunication.....

do a search fro blendShapes on HE3d and you'll have plenty o answers. briefly, ensure your targets are _identical_ to your blend base (if you just combined the teeth, should be ok, but if you did any kinda a topological changes - eg merges, be sure it was identical across meshes). do the blends before the skinning deformation ...you can reorder operatns by doing an all i/o history listing (RMB on obj, or status line near history scroll), no need to skin targets. be aware of freezing transformations too. read your search results, they should sort you out good!
