That Istanbul doesn't look like it now...

hey pavel this looks nice , here are some thoughts
I see a lot of blue in this image too monochromatic, some color variation to the buildings and some warmer colors near the streets would help a lot
also the clouds look too sketchy
and some buildings look too crispy or sharp in their shapes or windows, overall it is an interesting perspective

Hi Jamie. Thanks.
Good points - especially the monochromatic feel. I've been consious about that so I have some color variations in the windows, but all the street lights I made blue... I have to fix it.
I have one version with photo clouds too.

As I'm writing this, I have prepared changed version, with more color variations. Some of the street lights will still need retouching...
Also clouds from photo.

Hey mate looking nice. Great response to Pavels comment, made me laugh :) and think at the same time, this might not look very futuristic, but if you said this was my home town then it would need to be about 2000 years in the future :-) so the futuristic concept is a relative vision.

What's your source for this image?

Thanks David.:D

I used a lot of images of cities.
In the left foreground is the famous building from Hong Kong. And the blue tower-like building is overpainted building from LA.

hey I live there!!! haha great image pavel, though not lot of skyscrapers like this but there are quite some in some places too.But I think...if this is Istanbul in future, you really must put some mosque towers on distance.I can't know if this is Istanbul if you didn't write. But anyway, I don't know the script it's all your design, congrats!!

Hi Ismail, thanks.
I agree it's not very obvious that it's Istanbul...
I don't know how it looks like... I know did this mainly by Google maps... There is actually the Bosphorus bridge on the left, so no mosque towers are visible...
Also I think it will be written in the movie. Something like "Istanbul 2124" or something like that...

thanks and cheers

At the past or at the future Istanbul is always beautiful, there is no doubt about that. I amazed mostly your wish to design something about istanbul where is my hometown and this is very appreciated by my side.. :-)

About article, at first step clouds bored me a little bit. City lights also, anyway i liked it as a rainy day's steams. I noticed with 2nd try, clouds are mostly welcome however total work out of matte paint technique, became sharpen as it needs 1 or 2 more filter. I downloaded it and changed the mode as CMYK just to see color crossing, very good balanced, impressed, just an advice, Magenta x Cyan channels compression gives more values on medium tones.

Thank you for this lovely work and share.

Hi Onder, thanks.
I tried converting it to CMYK and you are right. Especially in the clouds there are more midtones visible.

thanks and cheers

Hi guys.
I have another image here.
It is actually the look on the left from the first image.
I did it pretty quickly - in about four days.

Some parts are not perfect so I'll maybe correct them...

I hope you like it:)

Hey Pavel, this looks cool.
The building on the far left seems to be a little bit off perspective and I think you might need some more separation in depth of the city. A little bit more differences in color/saturation/brightness to make clear the buildings positions in space (Im talking about the Buildings in the background especially on the left side). They are almost melting into each other when its about color values.

Thanks for the crits Marco.
Yes I think you are right. I'll maybe try and change it.
I'm glad you like it.

Hey! first off i realy realy like these. They would hold up well in a film i think.

crits...

The buildings seem... "squishy" to me... Like not all the perspective is consistent, and some things are leaning here and there, but nothing too obvious. I think in a film where people are focusing on characters and motion it would never be noticed. But something just doesnt seem quite 'solid' about some of the bigger buildings.

I dont mind the monocromatic color scheme, if its part of the art direction.

The sky still looks a little boring to me, I'd suggest geting some more cloud ref, and just copy paste some random things to see if you stumble on something you like. But again, if this were used in a real film, i dont think the audience would mind.

Realy great pieces! Hope to see more from you! :)

Hey guys! :)
Thank you very much.
I agree with you, CodeNothing in everything. There really are some problems with perspective. I wasn't happy with the sky very much too. It didn't look bad, but after I applied the filters it looked very monochromatic.

thanks again

cheers:)
