Hi.

I'm trying to create a red lightning diode (something like a stand by-light on TV's or Amplifiers or whatever) in 3D Studio MAX R3. I've tried to use a red omni light, but I only keep ending up with either a room thats filled with red light, but no visible light from the source, or - if i lower the lights multiplier - I end up with pretty much nothing except a little red reflected glow in some of the objects nearby.

What I need is a intense red spot that don't lightens the whole room up. If anyone had one or a couple of tips, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks.
Eric.

Have you tried adjusting the light's attenuation?
You could make it fairly bright, but keep it from lighting up too far away from the LED.

easy. model the bulb, and put on a red materials with 100% self illumination. the put a omni in the middle of the bulb and then exclude the bulb from shadow casting a recieving light from the omni, and then use far attenuation on the omni. and turn it up abit.

Now just add some glow in video post and Bob's your uncle.

1. use sphere with red selfillum-material
2. add omni and exclude the geometry it sits on
3. set omni decay to inv-sqaure
4. add volumelight to omni

(thats just for closeup)
