These ugly f@ckers are the Xagu.

One of the many twisted experiments conducted by Saruman the many coloured during his efforts to produce the Urukai.

By combining the blood of Demons with the roots of Ents he discovered a race powerful and malicious. However, the will of the Ents and the evil nature of the Demons caused much conflict in these abominations and the were almost impossible to control.

Seeing as I'm supposed to submit a concept first, I thought you might like to see this. It's too rushed, but hey, it's about the 3D right? The model is underway and I'll post that soon.

I really want to get a feeling that these guys are more than just your average spikey demon. Hopefully I'll be able to capture a feeling of the wood and bark growing from out of them.

By they way... great submissions so far... some serious competition, I like it!!

Too much to do, such little time...

Heres the latest render I did over the weekend. I had the idea of having the horns growing from out of his neck and shoulders. I think it looks OK. Hopefully he will look a bit more dynamic when I pose him.

So far I'm pretty happy with him :)

Yeah, I just figured that out.

Anyway, I just got an account with netfirms, so it should work now.

Uh, yeah... C&C welcome

That completely kicks ass. I just saw your post on the challenge page. It's sometimes hard to get above the noise around here. I'd say yours is WAY above it.

Yeah, there are a lot of entries, so many to go through and look at, it's just like a big cg banquet.

Thanks a lot guys :)

Finally got around to rigging him. Did a render with the max5 light tracer. Not a bad result with the default settings.

Very nice details, especially like the feet. Maybe some glowing red eyes would make him even more scary:thumbsup:

Thanks for the c&c guys, much appreciated. I've had so much fun doing him, I wish the deadline wasn't so close. I could build him a house, family, pet.... hehe

Time to render and composit him and maybe do a few touchups on photoshop.

The updates on the CGC page dont seem to be working, so I'll just post here.

Pretty much my final composition.... my creative wad is spent. Quite happy with how it's turned out. I found that I really wanted to spend a bit of time on the environment, since I think it puts the creature in context... stalking poor little hobbits and elves through the woods... *evil laugh*

Good luck everyone, it's been fun :)
