View Full Version : where to download models for texturing?
zoephoenix 11-29-2006, 09:18 PM I'm interested in becoming a texture artist and I have some modelling skills, but I don't want to texture my own models for much the same reason if you're going to apply for a job coloring comic books, you don't color your own drawings. Can anyone give me a good resource for downloading different kinds of 3D models, preferably for free..?

I was having quite similar problem some time ago. I wanted to learn game texturing, but it took too long to build decent models. I decided to join a mod team as a texture artist for fun and practise. They had plenty of models that need a texture. I think I've learned quite a bit during these couple months.
If you're interested in this kind of approach, you could check the collaborative team projects (http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=73) forum. There are many great projects that would love to get more people in.

I have gotten a few models from zygote.com. They have a generic female, generic male, and i believe a horse. It is a medical sight but they have some really cool stuff. Just make sure you read the license agreement before you put it on your reel or whatever. Good Luck.
