I was just wondering if anyone's used network renderers w/ maya. Such as Smedge, lemon, muster, spider, etc. I'm curious which ones you'd recommend. Also do any of them work w/ mental ray in maya?

I work with muster and the latest release accepts mental ray.
It's quite good but......sometimes there's a crash,but in windows you know...there's always the risk.
Over all,it's a good software, perfect integration with maya and pretty good results.

Thanks for the reply. I think we went ahead and got smedge since the maya reseller suggested it. Hopefully it works well.

Smedge is great. You won't be sorry. Good support and the cost is just right. I even use it for Lightwave network rendering.

We use Muster. It can deal with both Maya, Lightwave and Shake rendering

Lost Pencil, have you tried rendering out mental ray in maya w/ smedge? I checked their forum and someone had a script for it. Just wondering if you've tried it.

Hey Houkah,

No, sorry I haven't tried it. I'm hesitant on using MR on the network since it would cost me an arm and a few legs to get all my render nodes MR capable.
