Hi ,

I have almost completed the general lessons on modeling with
Maya. But I am at the begining of material giving and procedural
shadering. This cup is done with revolves and lofts and
then converted to polygons. Now in giving it a good silver material
I have problems. A silver which reflects and shines elegantly.
I used clouds in color with 2 bright gray colors and turned on
raytracing in render options. But it is not good.
I need one or two formula or shaders for good silver in Maya.
Where can I get them. Any tutorial or free giving site for that?
please give a clue.

Thanks

The model is excellent but the cloud is far too contrasty. Make the colors almost the same so that the color variation is very subtle. Also, use a higher spec map which a dirt channel to vary the specular settings. Also, up the reflectivity to like .9 and add a reflect map of something appropriate, commonly a map of black and white studio lights are used. Also you would likely want to either change the camera background color or add a backdrop.
