View Full Version : Q: slider and loops?
03-23-2002, 03:33 AM
I saw that some 3dsoftwares has this kinda slider thing you could use to (for an example) open and close a hand\fingers with. you just had to slide the slider to the right for an example and the hand openened and viceVersa. anyone how knows if this is possible to setup in lightwave? it would be an awsome feature to have.
and another thing,
is there an easy way to set up loops. lets say I have made a couple of steps for a walkcycle and wanna loop that motion, what's the easiest and fastest way of doing that? I saw that some 3dsoftwares had this "loop finder", anyone heard of that?
thanks in advance :wavey:
You'll have to wait a few more days until Lightwave 7.3 is out; that will have some form of sliders. The sliders you are thinking about are in Project:Messiah.
To create cycling animations, you may want to use Cyclist in LW.

Or to loop the walk cycle you could use LW's motion blender: Create your walk cycle, save it as walk1 or whatever, then copy/paste it into your mixer, blend between the takes.

CIM: thanks, I checked the feature list after reading your post and noticed the "sliders", yippie! :bounce: I rather wait a couple of weeks than buy\learn messiah then :)
I'll check out the "cyclist" to, thanks!
Anthony: wow! thats sounds like a great feature! it was almost the feature I was looking for, thanks for the tip!

you can do sliders since lightwave 6.
just create an empty object with endomorph and, in the layout, link (with basic expressions) the amount of this endomorph to the object(s) you want to affect.
after, you open the Morph mixer of your empty object et move the endomorph sliders. and what ??? your object, bones etc.... are affected !!! it's magik !!! :)
LW rulez and Endomorph power !! :)

Here's a tutorial on creating sliders and using endomorphs.
These 2 links are for the "Sliderbox" plugins and english docs

those plugins seems to be what I was looking for, thanks a million!
the first link didn't work though, seams as if "cgfocus" is down at the moment.
Sliderbox is definitely the way to go!
