Title: The Lesson in Humility
Name: Christopher Jouan
Country: USA
Software: Painter, Photoshop

This piece took nearly 2 years to complete because I couldn't decide how to approach the viewpoint. The only element that did not change was the carrier.

Sometimes we're so involved with our own "greatness" that we don't realize there might be others bigger and greater out there. My hope is that whomever they may be, they would be advanced enough to understand that we're still a bunch of tribes trying to work out our differences.

(Granted, tribes with the ability to wipe ourselves off the face of the planet without any help.)

Perhaps by simply showing how advanced they are, we might learn a thing or two about humility.

This is good work. Terrific concept. The gradient sky is very effective.

I really like this. The sense of scale is superb.

Yeh I agree this is cool. The alien ship looks powerful and is nicely understated without the need for flashing and beeping lasers and the like. My only small question is that the carrier in the foreground seems to be limping towads the craft when surely the story could've been told better with the ship headign towards the camera ie. trying to flee from the ominous spacecraft?..just a thought but maybe compositionally it would not've looked as convincing.

Great work all the same!

The spacecraft(?) in the back kinda makes me think of the motherships in the game Homeworld..

I have to agree, the mothership looks like it is from the game "Homeworld" and the carrier looks to be a rendering of a very famous photograph of the Nimitz.

Still, a great composition and rendering.
