I've been working with these koi fish designs for some time, but decided to include them in a piece of my regular work since I've always drawn the fish on their own. This is a pencil drawing I did a week ago.
The girl in the circle wanders in deep thought while koi fish surge past in a wave of colors.

Very nice work, is this all done in pencil?
I love the red, dark green and grayish ones, the biggest currently colored one is great. Love it.

Yeah, it's a pencil drawing alright. Most of my work starts out that way in fact.

Started with the girl, and decided the circle she's in represented a sort of sun.

I love the fishes!! They look so cute and colorful. Great concept as well.

Got the turtle neck, skin and most of the girl's hair down. Might do more hilights on the skin tones, and will be finishing up the hair. BTW, I know the hair color's weird, but I like strange hair colors. For some reason, grayish or opaque hair color looks interesting on a character.~Angela

Finished the girl in the sun, and adjusted the blending options on the layers to blend her with the imahe more so colors didn't contrast too much. Here's how she looked before...

And after changes, the full image...

I want to do a sort of old burnt scroll material look for the bg, but have no idea how to do it just yet. Any suggestions will help.~Angela

I like the parchement you put behind the image, but please get rid of that white background, it just totally clashes with it. Try something darker, like a slightly colored gray.

Alright, I'll do that. You'll see it in the 2d section, thanx.
