hi there,
i have a bunch of particles in my scene. animation looks good, working on the shading now.
right now im working on shading of some particles at bout frame 650 and have to batch render smaller chunks of the anim to check my animated tex placements.
BUT for some reason, when i batch render the scene out of the ui maya douesnt seem to reconize my cache for the particles. rendering the first frame of the chunk takes extremely long considering there's hardly anythin in the scene(only proxy geom, very lo res, no textures except particles). rendering preview from within the ui is fast. that's why i think maya is simulating all the dynamics beginning from frame 1 when batch rendering. (time time i have to wait for batch to start seems to be the same to do a cache for the whole shot)
and yes, ich double checked my dynglobals to have my cache enabled :)
any ideas?

i forgot to mention i'm on maya 4.5, winxp. but i don't think this problem is version specific.

maybe it's due to batch renders nature, that renders generally take some time to start. (load scene in memory, even hidden elements etc.)
which is why batch rendering isnt suitable for rendering small chunks?
