Title: Train Station
Name: Gregory Fromenteau
Country: France
Software: mental ray, XSI, ZBrush

Train Station

Inspired by a picture of the comic book "Lost Paradise" (Ange & Varanda). I change a lot of things (locomotive, background, characters....). My goal is to make a curious ambience out of time. Modeling in xsi and zbrush, rendering in xsi with mentalray.
Hope you like it .

You've done an excellent job in creating a gloomy atmosphere. Nice use of color, texture, and lighting.

yea nice dusty atmosphere

now i don't know the story and i was wondering, where have all the rocks come from?
I mean they look like blasted hills or something to me, not building debris, and seem a bit
strange so much of the glass has remained intact after the avalanche or whatever
happened there

but yea , very good pic , i like the threatening feel of the stuff piled against the window
in the outside, keep it up

thanks all :)

Squibbit > the station is build in the rocks, and the wall that hold the rocks are broken so they get through the glasses. I guess it need some imagination :hmm:

I really really like it! Nice work!
The rocks are a little wierd but I wouldn't take them out unless you plan to replace with something.

The headlight from the train is a bit distracting. Has it just arrived? Is it about to leave? Would it be shooting steam out anywhere? It looks quite still and it doesn't seem to be pulling anything. It leads the eye off. The lighting in general feels a bit even and the textures might have been pushed further too (especially on the train).
The modeling is great, though, and the scene feels very moody.

the light is too dusty , when the air is so clear.
a nice image, overall.

Not bad. The rails are aout of scale(too big), i miss a bit dust floating in the air, ground textures are stretched. If you break some of the glasses and let some volumetric light come it it will be much better. The locomotive volume light is more disturbing then good, is too dense..

A great work here mate!
A beautiful atmosphere, cold and dry. Roof is very impressive and the mess around is good.
According to people, maybe the volumetric frontlight is too dense/bright, although the soft ambience.Adding some haze/fumes may help to integrate this better. But that s rock anyway:)

One thing(i know you will hate me..): Where is the CLOCK!!! Damn':scream:

Apart these ridiculous observations, you ve made an excellent job !!
Congratz again!!!
Keep up bro'

Looking pretty good. I agree with the comment about the train's light, it is pretty distracting. Maybe cut the fog out and just have a bit of glow on the light itself. Boosting the contrast a bit would do tons for it as well I think. Also, getting the light to be more directional, so you can tell that it's coming from the skylight, would help.
