View Full Version : Sherman Tank
Kev3D 02-12-2003, 11:36 AM This is a Sherman tank that I am working on.
I still need to add more detail and give it a background. I was wandering if anyone could help me with this.
How do I add realistic looking dirt and scratches?
Has anyone got any idea for a background that would make this look cool?

Nice little tank you've got there. :D
As background I would take some bombed buildings

Nice looking tank! I don't think you really need to much more detail in it, but I don't really know what this tank should actually look like either... Keep up the good work!

wow... whats your workflow on this one ?

Maximus: If workflow means how long it took, I'd say about 10 hours to texture, 15 - 20 hours to model and about 10 minutes to render.
Cocoknight: THanks for the idea, I'll try it.
I like that .
Could you post a wire frame of the tank, and I agree that a background would be very good !!!

Great tank, from what i can see theres just one problem
Where you have the treads, around the purple wheels, the middle one seems to going into the model, but otherwise great work

nice tank, but you got some errors in the construction. First of all, the turret aint the flat. second: the driver/hullgunner hatches dont look like that. also, the hull gun itself dont look like that
and the track seems to be pathdeformed? wide trackparts next to very thin ones...
and some other details
sorru for bitchin' ;) but im a WWII freak and i hate to see things modeled wrong.
heres my sherman :)

Caman, thanks a lot for the crit.
Your model is very impressive.
I knew someone would pick out all the details I got wrong. I admit, I stffed a lot of details up because I didn't really know how to do them any better. This was my first attempt at modelling something realistically and there are a lot of things in max that I still don't know how to use. For instance, I'd luv to know how to do the treads properly (not use path deform) because that stretching thing is really pissing me off!
