hi a few more 101q.
1.
i could not find the control to customize the standard transformation interaction type (View, World, Parent, etc) It is by default set to view and i want to change that to world. where is this within the Customize UI?
2.
Is there a way in max to extablish clipping planes in viewports--sorry, xsi and lightscape vocabulary, I mean I want to only view a certain distance range from the camera, exclude both what is beyond my max range or behind my min range . My mesh is so complex that i would need this. Where is it and what is it called?

3.
Orbiting (keyboard 'V' or 'Ctrl+R')... What is the setting so it orbits around the selected object instead of around the world center?

1. hold alt + right click in viewport and you'll see world view local etc..

Howdy !

1. can also be found on your tool bar, right besides the scale tool in a rollout menu.

2. if you right-click on viewport's label, you'll find "viewport clipping" in the menu, that gives you two sliders on the side of your viewport and enables you to extend/shorten it.

3. if you hold press the "arc rotate" tool ('bottom' toolbar), it will pop 3 ways to do it, 'arc rotate', 'arc rotate subobject' and 'arc rotate selected'... also use the 'zoom extents selected' to rotate around a mesh or a couple meshes...
