View Full Version : trouble using rigs, e.g. IK-joe/Package man

I'm trying to use these free rigs to practice animation with, but I haven't been able to find a way to manipulate them, i.e. I cannot transform/rotate hands legs.

I've tried scrolling through the outliner and selecting handles, marquee selecting around hands and legs, to no avail....

any help would be appreciated. I'm not trying to waste anybody's time, and I have read portions of the manual as applicable, watched videos,etc. ... I'm sure I'm just missing something "obvious"

you translate the NURBS curves. the coloured lines. Not the geometry. take a look at some rigging reels or something. Heres one of mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqeQKVHAgv8

i know that with IK joe and I'm pretty sure that with package man you need to turn on all the ctrl first before you can animate with it. to turn them on all you need to do is select the name that is in the center of the move all ctrl. once you select the name it should bring up all the attributes to turn on and off the ctrls in the channel editor. after that you shouldn't have any problem animating with them. hope that helps...

Also, to "theazz", thanks for the video link.

The strange thing is that, sometimes even with controllers selected the character doesn't move. The joints move but not the character.

check the ik blend setting. its the little green curve on the wrist and toes. if FK_IK is set to 0 then the fk ctrls will work if its set to 10 then the IK ctrls will work
