Halogen 02-12-2003, 08:56 AM Hello there,
I am extremely new to Cinema 4d and i thought i would be brave enough to post a pic of my first real model. Uhm i know there are some seaming problems and gaps in the mesh, but ill try and fix that on texturing. Speaking of texturing... i dont know how to tackle it... Any suggestions on that topic or any Constructive Crit on the model? I would really appreciate it if you help me improve :D
Thanks for reading... :D :bounce:

p.s. Sorry about the large image, this is the only url i have for it and it shows the detail...

hey halogone,
Good to see another Aussie in here. Were in aus you from exsactly?
With those Gaps, are you Deleting the inside polygons of the mesh. other thing might be that your point arnt actuly on the 0 axis. shouldnt do that other wise.
I guess the question is how you want to texture it. using body paint or just using materials.
I recon materials are easyest way. but looks boring on a large open area like the bikes seat. I would devide that bike into pannels to give it a constructed look. and just a Idea that i had looking at that i thought would be cool is to have a window were the Engine would be on a real bike, Sort of like what Ferarri do there cars but only for a bike. have like some wierd glowing Engine in there. like Star trek Warp reactors.
Pretty Origonal for a first Model i recon :)
Keep it up!:airguitar

Ya ditto on the originality there Halo :)
Think physics when you are modelling,ie the rear braces for the guns dont look strong enough to hold the weight seeing as they are right on the braces ends, try putting a stabalizer underneath them :)

Im from perth Moth :)
Yea i deleted all the polys inside the mesh, i did notice that they screwed up the smoothing so they are gone.
Hmmm you gave me ideas about texturing, like flat materials and such but im not sure how to actually do it. I can create materials and apply them using "set selections" but im not sure if thats the better way. Is there anyone out there good at describing in newbie terms exactly how i would go about doing a good texturing job?
Oh and thanks for the tips kiwi. I also thought of the width of the braces because the ammo strip wouldnt quite fit really. Might change that...
Thanks for the support guys, really appreciate it.

Perth is good. :) Im in Hilarys if that means anything.
Only thing is the absolutly Lack of support for C4D in WA. I remember phoning the Distibuter here and he hardly even knew what i was talking about. quite a shame really.
Well With texturing there so many difrent ways you can do it. but what i personly do is map out the mesh onto bodypaint and paint a rough scetch of what i want, were. then i take it into photopaint and get it looking good. then its a simple matter of droping the picture into a material and droping it on the object. The maxon has a few terorials on this. one thing i try avoid when texturing is still having them in hyperNURB form. i usaly make them editable, then start mapping it.
But for that all i would do is past some decals. ( look on the Maxon site for a tatoiral on how to do that) and just use a nice SLA metal Marerial.
Anyway thats all i can offer.. For real Advice .. Ask the experts.
