This is a image of a wedding ring I designed and rendered as a Case Study for the process of jewellery fabrication : from computer to wax and from wax to finished piece ( the one that is showed here )

This is a very nice design but it is hard to make a correlation between the inside of the ring and the outside. I looked at it quite a long time to understand it. If the amethysts are set in those cavities, the pearls are standing above? At first I saw it as a net. Beautiful anyway.

I think the light of the ring has some problems.
it looks like plastic.

It seems like it would be very uncomfortable to wear, maybe smooth up the inside of it?

I've modeled jewells for brands like tiffany, cartier etc ..
And I assure to you , no need to smooth , the polishing smoothes every angles , it's the way real jewels are done !

I agree u , the rendering isn't perfect .

but the model is done the right way , ready to be rapid prototyped in wax

You said that you wanted crits.. and then you say that we are wrong?
Then.. why ask in the first place? ;)

U r totally right dude , in fact I've been lazy .. i should have remodeled it so it perfectly matches the finished product .. instead i just imported the stl File to make a test render ...

Your crits are almost right , except that the inside of the ring is never modeled smooth ;)
