Here's an animation I've been working on using an audio clip from the 40 year old virgin. I'm still working on it but I felt like posting some progress. The end fadeout with the bit of smoke will eventually be the transition to the next piece in my demo reel. Any comments or crits are welcome!

Thanks to Peter Starostin for the great rig Lomax.

Sorry, I updated the scene and forgot to replace the link with the update so the link might not have worked for a bit! Here's the updated version that actually works :)

really really nice bit of animation man. only a couple of small crits (and I'm no pro so dont take em too seriously)
-when he stands up, theres a strange hip pose - I think your trying to get the guy to look like he's jutting his belly out but the cam angle seems a bit too face on to help enhance the tummy. Maybe try getting him to do a belly jiggle with his hands instead?

there just may be a bit too much hand animation motion before lighting the cigarette

still superb animation tho ...great inspiration for me :)

Thanks for the comments. Ya, I was having trouble with that first initial pose as he stands up. Still lookin kinda akward. I'll try messing with it and seeing if i can work it better. And I was having a bit of trouble with that part where he's pulling out the cigarette as well. My idea was for him to be moving quickly because he starts ranting and getting all hyped up about it, but I don't think it's working very well. I'll try to fix that up too.

looking good! one thing that might help get a little more life into it is to make the eye movements faster and less smooth. They're definitely the right moves but usually the eyes won't move in smooth arcs, they'll hop from focus point to focus point in just a few frames and stay locked there until moving on to the next target.

Here's an update on the third scene. Did a lot of revisions on this one, with everyones suggestions in mind. I've still been touching up the other scenes too. I'll post them as I finish them. Thanks again for all the comments and suggestions.

Here's an update on the whole piece. Feel free to critique as hard as you'd like. I'm sure theres a lot that could be polished up. I just can't quite pick out the little areas that need work right now because I've been staring at it for way too long.

Looking much better! There's a couple of little polish things that might help like when he pulls out the cigarette but the only thing that really gets me is the very last pose. Since the dialogue is "explaning" love, it seems like a stronger ending for him to make eye contact with the guy on the left rather than looking down and away.

Nice!
No comments from me. But I'll post here nevertheless 'cause I want to follow the clips progress.

Another update. Mostly did work on the last scene.

I tried out having him keep eye contact with the other guy at the end but I didn't think it worked as well. So I held the eye contact more throughout the scene but I still have him looking down at the end.

Any comments at all would be appreciated. Be as harsh as you'd like. I'm trying to wrap this up and move on to some more work. Thanks again.
