NURBS Modeling, III: GTP Racecar

If so is it a good one? I am thinking of getting it.

Thanks!

I can't speek for the Modeling ones but the Texturing, Rendering, and Dynamic ones are great (IMO).

So I would guess that the modeling ones are equally good.

Yeah I've got that one.

Before I watched this I didn't get NURBS at all, and was getting really frustrated trying to build a car smoothly in polys.

Now I'm confident I can build some great models in NURBS.

Definitely recommended.

incredible video, I talk them up every chance i get...

I love this DVD, it is one of the best modeling ones =)

I still have to get the Polygon 1 and Polygon SubD DVD’s...

those teach about mesh errors... which is invaluable :)

Yes it is a good DVD.

Gnomon is the best way to learn these things IMO.

Although the lessons that come built into Maya help (iInstant Maya) is also a good place to start.

The A|W Books are real good to, but some of the DVD's from A|W are not worthy of the price you pay for them. Some of them are just far too much lecture - not enough, or none at all hands on.

Gnomon DVD's (the 8 I have anyway) are seriouslly easy to follow. GTP is the last of a 3 DVD series. You can learn it with out the other 2, but I perfer to take them on in numerical order. But that's just me.

Good luck, and have fun.

this DVD goes to the max on how to use the Square tool, Trim, and Fillets and project tangent(dont overlook this tool when you need to create very dyanamic curved surfaces!!)....and with some birail in there to....Krumwieder matches up Alvarez when it comes to presentation and professional knowledge.

After this video you will know how to use all of the tools needed to model car in nurbs...and also how to approach certain problem areas of a car...like detailing and trims

also...krumwieder has nice way of using history for a lot of his modelling...which is why i am hooked with maya in the first place

Krumweide does a verry good job with these DVD's. Sometimes it seems like he's going to lecture rather than get in there, but he has a way of going over almost every possible tool, that will go unused for the most part in the hands on portion of the tutorial. He spends a lot of time actually modeling, but want's to cover anything that get's unused, and shows you how you could apply it in similar workings. In some cases he does a few models (like Disc 2). which realy makes you fell that you've gotten your money's worth out of the DVD. They all are verry good so far. I want the whole set. :xtreme:
