Hi there,

Does Mental Ray Standalone 3.4.57 work with Maya 8. I know that maya 8 comes with mr 3.5 but I'm curious.

thanks!

In other words maya 8 is only supported by mental ray standalone 3.5.1.2

mr 3.5.1 is binary incompatible with any previous ray version.
that does mean you cannot use mr 3.4 for distributed renderings with maya 8.0 as it uses mr 3.5.1.2; and a 3.5 cannot co-operate with a 3.4. but does not mean you can't use the mr 3.4 with exported mi file to render your scene, infact none of the new 3.5 features are implemented in maya 8.0 so you're free to use a 3.4 version as a standalone. at least here works with no problem.
