i am working on a rendering of a white (ipod-ish) mp3 player. i have setup all materials etc and it looks great, now i want to drop a little logo somewhere on the front white surface of the player. how can i do this without having to model the text into the surface?? i.e. by using a texture... how do i set this up in the material editor?

i realise that this is a very basic thing, but i am used to modelling and texturing for web3D and we would just position a plane right over the surface and place the logo on it in TGA format with an alpha channel. looks great for web3D but not for rendering - this generates a shadow behind the logo on the surface.

you can use a Blend material with the shader in the first slot and the text texture in the second slot and in the mask slot use the alpha for the text, then just use a UVW Map to put the text in the place that you want and donīt forget to disable the tiling option for the texture map and for the alpha map. Iīm pretty sure there are some others ways but this works for me.
