As I read the book this is kind of how I imagined the 7th chamber. Like a sort of rocky desert type location. Didn't much like the closed in feeling of the pictures for this one though so I've decided to extend it abit.

This is the extended composition which I think works a little better. I don't like the path of the beam, the truck is a bit crap and the plant life doesn't work. I am assuming that you can make these out in my scribbles.

This is the line art I will be using in my final composition. There are three figure to be added by the truck. They are scanned in but I haven't got round to putting them in yet.

This is the first bit of colour. Still no people in the foreground but they will be in the next update.

Hi Peter,

You got a great starting sketch going man. I love the rock formations and the bridgees. Looking at your sketch I can tell that the clouds over the plasma tube will looks awesome.
A very nice perspective layout.

Refining the shading a little but still alot to do. Still got to add textures and lighting. Not happy with the clouds or the beam yet.

Very cool line work. What you can do more to this piece as you go along is to add some more depth. By thining out the line work as you define the farther reaches of the chamber (if you plan on keeping your line work) and even reduce contrast so we would get a better idea of the magnitude of the environment. Good Luck.

Lovely concept, lovely line art, lovely perspective! Into my favorites!

May be because it's an early stage of work, but it looks like the plasma tube is a bit too low, chamber is suppose to be 50km in diameter.
I am looking forward for updates.

Good luck!

Hi peter,

Great concept images...lots to look at. I see what Musi means....i had the same scale issues in my piece. I tried to imagine 50km from where i live.....and man that is huge...lol.

Maybe opening the canvas size to a square you could get the height to place the plasma tube higher.....:-)

Keep em coming
Cheers

Thanks for all the comments and if I'd have had a less busy christmas I would have acted on afew of the suggestions. Here is the final colouring with only the characters to add. I have them drawn but not scanned in yet. I will addd them in a day or two. As this is my first competition like this I would like to wish everybody good luck and a happy new year.

That's a nice update!

It looks muck bigger now, may be clouds around the plasma tube where giving the false sense of clumped space...

Good luck, Peter! Give us some updates!
