View Full Version : Underwater wakes
Julez4001 02-11-2003, 11:20 PM Think about a peeble dropped in a glass of water......
How would you animate the wake as the peeble moves to the bottom. I know it may have soem particles but that shape displacements. What would be the best way to do that?

I've done effects similar to this in the past where you use an HV emitter to emit some basic puffy, smoke-like HVs. Render over black, with the HV surface set to white and/or shades of grey.
Take the rendered image of your underwater scene into After Effects, and use the HV layer that you rendered as a displacement map. You may have to play around with your particle flow a bit in LW, but you should be able to get some pretty decent results with this.
