Hey all, this is a general question for all. I'm interested in finding more and better ways or procedures in Uv'ing a character... head and body. I use Maya and as of now I use the standard projection methods of Planar, Spherical, Cylindrical and Automatic mapping. I've seen some interesting techniques done for UV's to make the most of texture space. For instance, projecting a combination of spherical and cylindrical mapping on a head and sewing and moving the uvs.
Anybody care to enlighten me in better practices would be greatly appreciated.

1. Always use the projection that best suits the area.
2. Use a minimal amount of seams.
3. NO overlapping UVs.
4. Eliminate any stretching.
