Hey,

I'm about to throw myself into an airplane animation of sorts, it's a longer story, but what I need is basically planes battling it out in the skies, very 'simple'.

I'll be using WWII planes, and here's the thing. I'm much more comfortable with modelling and texturing (and everything in general) in Max, but I'd looove to use the fluid systems in Maya for cloud systems of sorts and perhaps some water.

Is there are good way to port textured models from Max to Maya? What about such things as grouping and what have you, can the be ported over?

And finally, is it possible to do a 360 degree render in Maya for use as a cube skybox?

Look into Kaydara's FBX file format, which you can d/l the plugins for here:

Should do everything you want to, tho it might not transfer material settings over. In any case, it'll do the UVs so just re-make the materials in Maya, shouldn't take too long!
