edit: ARMADILLO
Hi thnx for your comments
El-Rodente: Thnx for the warm welcome! I wish I could participate more...
and yeah! Armadillo ^^
benkashmir:
I use a bunch of custom brushes in my paintings to speed up the painting process.
But they are all created by myself. I painted the trees in a seperate file and deifined it
as a custom brush. Same goes for the birds. You can find some tutorials and my brush set (selfmade brushes and some brushes collected from fellow artists) on my website.

I am forcing myself to learn to draw faster. This is a good start but I'm only 20 minutes out with the concept. I don't have any more time right now but I'll be back ti CGTalk because this is really really great. Feel free to massacre this, since I'm not attached to it yet...and if there's no image I appologize in advance because this is my very first post here!

Welcome photoilustr8tn! :D Great concept. I love dogs and how playful they are :)
I can only tell you what I've learned from other people and picked up elsewhere... One thing is that if a color occupies a large space of the picture (like the blue in the background) it should be less saturated so that the focus remains on the subject. And this particular picture could make use of just a little variation in background.
Anatomy wise I don't think you would be able to see the paw pads, and the tongue would look better partially covered up by the ball.
Great start, I hope to see more from you! :)

A cataclysmic-sky-sucking-ball hovering over some helpless city. :)
Photoshop, too long, almost two hours.

That's interesting. I use Photoshop/Save for web with quality 8. I tried saving with Photoshop/save As, quality 10. There is virtually no difference. I think the problem might be that I use 600*800 with resolution 72 dpi when I do my images. I assumed that would be enough resolution for pictures viewed in a webbrowser. I will try to increase my dpi on the next image I do. Thanks for the feedback!

The DPI level shouldn't make any difference. I work at 72dpi.

Maybe you're just using a certain brush making it look like that.

I cannot see any difference if I change to 300 dpi. You are probably right InAction, it might be the brush I used. I have been experimenting with using Scattering + Other Dynamics + Texture on brush settings so that might be why I get the grainy look.

It's been so long since I've done a daily sketch it shames me.
Here's mine - I'm surprised no one has done this kind of 'ball'
painter ix, wacom, 1 hour 30 min

A very typical sketch for me, I know, but I couldn't help it and I apologize.

A dance-ball was what I originally thought before I even looked at the thread. I have to say it surprised me too that Brittany is the only one whose done this kind of ball. :) I would too if I wasn't such a slacker!

Brittany, you are my favorite daily sketcher. I love when you come play with us. regarding the graininess of mats' work, maybe your right, maybe it is just a brush. It just looks to me like the pixels are too big or something.

aww, thanks. :) I love participating too and I hope I get more time to do so.
What types of brushes did you use for the background?
The texture isn't a brush, it comes from a textured photo set to overlay.
