It's been announced for a little while now in the video game communities, but I thought I'd share it over here with the CG community. It's a very stylized cel-shaded video game from Capcom (makers of Resident Evil series, Devil May Cry series, etc.) for the GameCube. It's called Killer 7. It's one of the new 4 games announced from them for the GC.

Check out this video: http://www.videogamerx.net/game_movie/02/11/killer7.avi

It's approx: 29mb, but it's a nice 720x480 crystal clear high res divx format.

Here's a couple pics for us that our still on modems:

It seems this tread has been view 40+ times with no feedback. Let me know what you think of the trailor and style. :wavey:

I believe it's just the latest Divx 5.03 codec.

If you like the pics, the trailor is even better style wise.

The game sounds bizarre. You take on the role of an elderly hero who happens to be confined to a wheelchair. But the twist is that he has Multiple Personality Disorder. In all, the main character seems to have seven different (which is where they get the games name I'm sure...Killer7) personalities for use through the game, which takes the form of a "Crime Story" of sorts. Sounds crazy (no pun intended) but it's definitely one of the stylish uses of cell shading I've ever seen.

Style of the pics looks interesting, but not all that great - I'll d/l the trailer when I'm back in uni tomorrow:)

I think the use of cel-shading in games can add so much atmosphere to them , beyond being a fashion thing (mind you that's pretty important since we get bored of samey-photoreal-sci-fi looks so easily). The new Zelda, for instance, looks absolutely bloody fantastic, and that's just in stills!

Wish I had the time to play games still:)

Anybody out there knows a good cell shader for Maya. I worked on a couple of cell shader before and I found the line quality pretty bad. Freeware or retail version...I dont care.

usually i'm a big fan of cell shading, but this one doesn't look too good, maybe it's just me

Note: Please make sure you check out the video. The images are just to get an idea for those that are on dial-up.
