Hey guys, Im having my first attempt at dirty texturing, I made a sort of watch makers table with a few tools, here is my dilemina. I cant figure out how to make my base metal texture, there doesnt need to be any rust , but maybe a little dirty, the first tool im working o in this springtool in the image i provided. I also provided my render im working on. Iv unwrapped the sping tool and took it into Photoshop. I dont want it exactly like it is in the picture. I want the black to stop where it starts to get smaller and i want those edges of paint there to be kind of chipped away. and the rest of it i want to be the metal. thats where im falling short. Ive look for real world textures, but most of them are rusty or have some kind of design on them. I think metal for tools are a little different. Can anybody explain to me how to make a good metal base texture for this. I really appreciate any hel you guys can give. Try to remeber I'm really new at this type of texturing, but want to really understand it.
