I havent been doing any cartoon rendering(have used mr/Maya to do toon renders, but this time it's a little more complicated rendering/look I'm after) for some time now and are wondering if there is any renderers and/or methods known to acheive renders similar to pictures on link below?:

I've got a project coming up calling for this type of look.

Doesn't anyone know any methods for pulling this off??

Surely there's some techniques and shaders out there to achieve this sort of look??

Anyone?

Maybe consider to create the effect with post-production rather than rendering.

You could actually create this with photoshop? there are quite a few good filters, and there is a batchrender feat too...

hmm, I dont understand why you can't get this look through Maya's toon render options. could you be a bit more specific?

maybe something like JOT?
http://jot.cs.princeton.edu/

its pretty old now, i think, and is a stand alone renderer without much or any integration as far as i can tell (i've only barely glanced at it myself) but it could be what you're after.
