These are the rules:
You have NO TIME LIMIT for your sketch. IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.
Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
They can be done on any medium.
If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
You can post an entry at anytime for the topic presented on this thead BEFORE the voting thread for THE WEEK has been posted.
The artist also has to post total length of time it took and program used.
Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
The topics will be picked at random from the list on the TOPICS thread >>LINK<< (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php/?t=145003)
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them).
Good luck

1 hour for the ice girl, 20 minutes for the fire guy.. and another 40 minutes for the human hands, drops and smoke.
program - alias sketchbook pro
this girl was punished by an envious god to be made of ice and not to be able to touch a man ever again... this until she met a man who was always on fire.. together they contradict eachother to become real human.

I do think itīs been years since i last posted here on the DSG, the place where i began with this CG thing, so i decided i should post a fast one now! I spent only 18 minutes on this, and i canīt say iīll work more on this image, but if i do iīll post it again here. Whoever saw Frank Frazettaīs movie, called "Fire and Ice" from 1983 might recognize the character... Well, maybe not... Who knows!

I was 13 when Fire & Ice came out and I remeber going to see it at the movies...was the greatest animated feature I'd seen...Ralph Bakshi (lord of the rings, wizards etc) did a superb job and the concept work by Frazetta was some of his best :).
I still have the original VCR version and the newer DVD of it also, I still consider it one of the best animated features ever made :)

Well, this is my first try with this sketchy thing. I tried posting earlier, but my reply didn't show, so I'm trying this again. There originally was a background, but it kinda distracted from the subject. This took me well over 1 hour....., and I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 with wacom.
Fire and water siblings. Exact age, exact height. Opposite powers and gender.
But together forever.

I might re-interpret this if I get any time... I looove fire-and-ice colourscheme paintings. I mean, cold and warm in the same image. goorgeous. I didn't really get it here, I was too busy focusing on the characters. Pfft. Oh well, here it is.

around 1 hour with PS and Wacom.
I sat down to sketch something for another topic(guess which one), but ended up with something more fitting for this one. Took way too long, 1 1/2 hrs. I kept changing things and the perspective kept throwing me off.

PSCS2 - 30 min~
I so hate PS sometimes. It died on me before I managed to save it, I only zoomed out to see it as a whole and bam! No way I'm getting a higher resolution than the screenshot I managed to take before it disappeared from screen.
I think you guys know where I got my idea from. Contrast and saturation overwhelming. :D

Fire Breather Ice Sculptor
Even though it's 'No Time Limit' I didn't have the time to do the full scope of my concept for this. I wanted to show him melting down a more detailed ice sculpture to show his skill and control of fire. Might do a full piece based on this one day.
1h 15min. PS CS wacom
