Hi there :wavey:

While dorking around on the internet, I found a plugin for 3ds max, called "Texture Layers", programmed by Mankua ( www.mankua.com ; http://www.mankua.com/texturelayers.cfm ).

Now I have a model (somewhere in the deeps of the WIP board) which is full of wires, cabels etc. which all have to be unwrapped.

THIS technique would be just amazing, but I haven't found any free plugin which can do these spline-uvw maps :(

Did anyone of you ever noticed one? Just a name would be enough, I can use google then to get more information :)

Would be great if anyone could help me :)

Mankua is it.

For your cables though, maybe recreate them as Lofts? Then you get perfect UVs for free.

I was mentioning that Loft objects can have UVs that follow their curvature. Splines can have UVs as well, in a similar fashion.

Spline-Mapping on the other hand is what Texture Layers allows you to do to ANY object. And with a lot more control than the UVs you get for Lofts or Splines.

Don't forget the FFD UV gizmo too... Texture Layers has some really cool UV tools.
