Guy In Rubber Suit

I'm working on a painting, which will be split in half into two, for my parents as a Christmas present. I'm doing a beach scene, on one side is a representation of my dad holding a surf board next to a 1953 Chevy Suburban. On the other side is a representation of my mom also holding a surf board standing next to a 57 Chevy Bel-Air. I know both my parents like the beach and those respective cars.
Right now I just got a little bit of color blocking down, but I'm curious about the composition. I'm trying to put things into thirds, good or bad? My current dimensions are 23.66 x 8.267 (inches) and it will be split in half.
Basic critiques I'm looking for are overall composition, perspective, tips to paint ocean water, and any reference of the back side of a 53 Chevy Suburban would be greatly appreciated. I haven't found much on Google or anywhere else. Thanks.
