I'm fairly new to AE and I'm having some isses doing some stuff... Already searched google and this forum but cant' find a solution for them...

1) I want to have some text with some animation presets applied to them (had a hard time finding them, but I did) but I want to be able to play some effects to that text like, glow, outlines and shadow. These are the 3 ones that I really want to know, but if bevel is also possible, let me know...

2) Maybe it works this way but, I never seen a preview so slow... I mean, why is AE preview soooooo slow? New project, new composition, new text layer, applied simple animation preset, preview and the animation is so slow, why? Why during the first previews it's slow and after a while it's normal? Why such a simple effect is so slow at first? How can I solve this, if possible?

AE does not have Photoshop layer styles, but you can apply any effect from the effects menu. Drop Shadow is under Perspective, Glow under Stylize. Contours are a text property and can be adjusted there.

Only RAM previews are realtime, playback speed of the normal spacebar playback is only dependent on your system performance. Compositing apps are in general not realtime and get slower the more effects you apply, so get used to it.
