Okay, I'm in the middle of rigging a character. I just finished up the left arm IK and am working on the right, but a problem came up.

Creating the ik was fine. It twisted the elbow on the x axis ninety degrees for some reason, but when I locked all but the y rotate, that fixed the problem. So I moved on to wrist control. I created a wrist control and point contrained the ik to it, and created an empty group node under it and tried to orient constrain the wrist joint to it. That's where the problem occured. Instantly my wrist joint, whos rotates were at 0,0,0 suddenly flipped and the rotates changed to 90,.254,-.052 even though the group node was at 0,0,0. At first I thought it was something I'd done with the group node, but I checked and it looked fine. So I created a locator node with nothing done to it and tried an orient constraint. Same thing, with the same values.

Any idea what's going on?

Just out of the blue since I assume the Controll shares the same position, it sounds a lot like you don t use the offset option. Every constrain allows you to either preserve position / orientation, or accomodate the source's....
Check the constrain toolbox for Maintain Offset tickbox, that keeps you object where it was before....
There s a "bug" or a known weirdness though as well, but that s only on orient constrains and flips all axis 180°...

Well, it appeared to work at first, but when I started moving the arm around, it began to get really twitchy and would suddenly snap the wrist in really odd angles as I moved the ik control around.
