Started this a few weeks ago. Changed it several million times. Original was scaled to be 9"x11" at 600 dpi or so but it included a full scene with lavish background, lots of characters, etc. I was getting frustrated with it and paired it down to just the main character, the jack of hearts, as inspired by the Bob Dylan song Lilly, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts.
Technique wise I've been working at it as just 1 layer since the beginning. Sometimes if I'm not sure about something I'll add one layer and then drop it after a while. Actual image size is 2304x3636 pix. Where I've been putting in the details (shirt, chain, parts of the face) I'm using a 10 pix nib at 100% flow and opacity. Trying to develop my color picking and optical blending, if I recall only place I've used the smudge tool so far is on the lantern...
Any sort of general or technical critique is greatly appreciated (be fierce). ^_^
