bioni 02-11-2003, 10:23 AM Hello All !
Based on LuxoJr. I've made this lamp study for
my university.
There's NO photoshop... this image was created using
3ds5 and Fakeosity...
I hope you enjoy.

very nice!
it reminds me of that one film with the toaster, lamp, and vacuum that were friends and wandered the world..... brave little toaster i think.
1 thing. make the lightbulb smaller. or atleast narrower. it seems to big in that lamp.
:D

Hello !
Thank you for replying...
The idea of the big lightbulb is the following...
I tryied to make a child Lamp... and usually the head of a baby
is too big if compared to her body...
So I had the ideia to immitate the baby proportions....
If I reduce the "head" i think that it could change the
age of the lamp...
But no problem i can change it.. !
Thank you a lot !

It's really nice, I think the material of the light bulb is a bit off though, it could be more 'glassy'

Hello Carina !
What do you mean with "glassy"
More transparent ? and real Glass style ? :)
Well... If is it... I have to agree woth you...I decided to
use something more opaque to avoid people see through
the lightbulb.... The model is very simple although have some special details... and... believe or not... the lightbulb is a
sphere.... the vision through the light bulb could reveal
some detail that isn't necessary.... and the point isn't the
bulb but the group....
But if you have a ideia that make the bulb "glassy" and
I don't have to model a real lightbulb I'm going to adopt !
Thank you a lot.

I think simply putting some sharper highlights on the bulb would do the trick.
try to adjust the specular roll off (perhaps)=) It also depends a lot on how the lighting is set up in your scene i suppose.. it could also do with a slight hint of reflection, as most glass surfaces are reflective.

Hey Bioni,
I like the lamp, really cute....i however disagree with the previous comments about the big bulb, i think it adds a lot of character...i take it you are not going for realism so a few toon exaggerations are allowed i think.
I agree that the blub needs to be changed, perhaps a sharper shine to it, it looks a bit to matt at the moment.
Anyway looking good, get an animation out there.....:)

I forgot to say that... I think that the bigger bulb is nice, makes it look more cartoony:thumbsup:

great job on that.... i think it looks good the way it is, except i agree the lightbulb needs more specularity. So, we gonna get to see an animation of this lamp moving bioni?

Carina !
Thank you again for you comment...
the Real LuxoJr. from PIXAR has a completely white matte lightbulb... that produces a astonishing good result !
The point is... I complete Agree with your position... but
we have a problem... if I have a more concentrated specular
region in the lightbulb, naturally the other points outside
the spectular will be much more darker, and will be very
strange....
maybe a more translucent material could achive the desired
result, but as i previous have said, the light is a sphere that
oclude some points strategicaly ...
Wainting comments !
Thankx... Pablo

Hiya Pablo,
that's looking really cool! Could we have a look at a viewport view so we can have a peek at the animation setup and maybe the wireframe!! I wouldn't mind seeing the animation test!! Keep up the good work.

cooooool!!!! :buttrock: :buttrock:
If you animatie it. Don't copy the Pixar animation. Make a joke of the pixar animation, A charicature or something.
Anyways, good job!
