Title: Extraterrestrial
Name: George Patsouras
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

I gotta admit, I had a lot of fun with this image, most likely because I didn't have to make sure the figure looked like anyone (I usually rely a bit more heavily on references). In this case, the only references I looked up were for lightning purposes. I quite like this method, and I'll definitely use it in the future. Tons of skin texture brushes were applied for the 'pores'. I also used an emboss effect to make them pop a bit. This image probably took me around 8 hours total, much faster than my usual works.

Well done George! Incredible texture work. I find the sss in the ear a bit strong but overall it adds nice balance to the colours. Great shadows too.
I give ya 4

What an idea to detail this simple model/concept so amazingly ?
Can you say me the size of your painting ? it should be very big to have so fine close up.
The result look like 3D cg for details on overall the painting. ( and I say this as a compliment )
I wait next time you do this quality on a good design, cause the only dark point I find in your illustration is about the subject/theme ( sorry I didn't know the exact world ) .May be a fat head with revulsed eyes and spiky hears are classic creature. I wait same rendering on something more spectacular ; a real alien from your imagination ! could be wonderfull.

I give you 5 stars not for this result , but for the detailing and technic performance.
Keep good job !

thanks everyone for the comments.

David: I'm glad you like the results. I agree I could have been a bit more 'creative' with the design, so I played it a bit safe I admit. The close ups are at 100% view, the size I worked was: 2400 x 3300 at 300 DPI. I'll probably do a couple more of these creatures (I had a lot of fun with this one). Thanks for the positive feedback :)

It's a portrait, so I saw no need to render at a larger size. Also, the zoom tool is my best friend :)
