Hi all,

Following my talk at the Blender conference I have been gathering some interesting node techniques for publication in my Cog's Quick Tutorial series.

As a taster I have a concept movie at www.cogfilms.com (http://www.cogfilms.com/) that shows how a hollow object can be made to float in one of my oceans without it penetrating the sides of the object. It also shows how the transition from water to object can be softened to help blend the object with the water.

Over the next few days 2 new Cog's Quick Tutorials, covering this, and a 3D stereo image creator, will be published. Until then enjoy the concept.

Excellent, firstly I have to apologize I read half your post and then went straight to watching the little demo without reading the article.
I watched it a few times and said said to myself, “Hang on, there's nothing new about this! :hmm: ” watched it few more times just in case I had missed something and then went on to reading the article.

Then it dawned on me, hollow objects! That's a hollow box!

Excellent stuff, I have no idea how did that and will be eagerly waiting for this tutorial.

Hi all,

I have to apologise to you all because unfortunately I can't now post those new composite node tutorials as promissed.

The reason why? Well a day after announcing them I was contacted to write the chapter on Composite Nodes in Blender for the upcoming book Blender Basics to be published in the Spring 07 by the Blender foundation. The time-scale is very short therefore I have had to use examples readily to hand. But don't worry, apart from my sections on materials as well as nodes, there will be other fantastic tutorials to get you achieving with Blender v2.43 in no time.

PS Darn, I put my pen down for 5 seconds and Ton writes a whole new series of composite node FX. :scream: Got to get on.
