View Full Version : Gradient overlay
Crayox 11-20-2006, 01:07 PM Hi,
I'm trying to blend two images using gradient overlay. But, when I use it, my original image doesn't blend to the layer below but to white color. How to make a layer gradually become transparent?
Thanks

select the layer on top, go up to the : layer menu > layer mask > reveal all or hide all
this makes a layer mask (which works like an alpha channel specifically for that layer) so just draw a black and white gradient into the layer mask and Dun Dun DOoooo!! you should now have a nice gradient fade to show the layer underneath.
:-)
thats a nice non destructive method.
or the destructive method.
select the top layer, click on the quick mask button (the square with a circle in below the forground/background colours ont he tools palette) now draw a black/white gradient (it should show as a red mask gradient) now click the quick mask off button and you'll get a nice selection.
Hit delete and you should get a perfect gradient fade.
thats 2 methods for you hop they help :-)
