Heres a character ive been working on this weekend.
Head was modelled textured and rendered in zbrush.
The body is a manipulated photo from 3d.sk.
Put together and touchups in PS.

I'm guessing its partly thought of from John Merrick, A.K.A. The Elephant man?

I didnt have Merrick in mind, but they're both freaks so I guess thay have something in common :)
