View Full Version : 3ds Max 5 Exit Problem??
{-=Jaxx=-} 02-10-2003, 11:00 PM Im having a problem with max for some reason sometimes just exits without any error messages or anything for that reason and it sometimes does it while i try to save which corrupts my file so i cannot open the file again therefore losing my most recent changes! Does anyone have this problem or had it and knows how to prevent it? I have been on discreets website and it doesnt mention anything about this problem... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards

i get that file error problem sometimes when MAX error's during or after a render, so i try to open my saved file but it won't open..when i thought that saving it before rendering would obviously have no effect of what happens after i save it..its a bunch of bull

What version are you using 5.0 or 5.1 update? I saw the 5.1 update but its over 20 meg and being on a 56k connection i dont really want to download it unless it will solve these stupid bugs. I can render and everything else but it just exits for no reason at all even when im looking at a wireframe in the viewports!

i am using 5.1, i think my main problem is that maybe my computer can't handle so many poly's in one scene..thats what i assume cause recently i made one of my most high poly models of a car with GI

Im going to download 5.1 to see if it solves anything iv only 256 ram so maybe that could be the problem. No harm in trying though, Do you have an image of your car im thinking about modelling one myself.

What Graphiccard do you have? I have a ATI FireGL 8800 and my Max crashes quite randomly from time to time and wrecks the file while doing that. And all I do is move the viewport. I started inquiries at ATI and my hardware dealer. After some chit-chat I received a e-mail that the drivers where not "optimized" for AMD-Systems. After some Updates it is going better, but it still happens in Max4 and Max5.
