I f they succeed, they will bring down the price for blu ray technology.

Ah but that leaves the question...will it really lower the price of the technology or allow Sony to make that much more money quicker.....I don't think Sony would lower the price of anything. Based on the fact that they are talking about bringing out new versions of Playstation 3 as they increase technology and they won't be upgrades you will have to dish out for a new PS3 if you wanna take advantage.
Technology that is just leaving the labs, isn't gonna help consumer products built on assembly lines for quite a while.

As long as people are happy to pay $600 for the PS3, Sony will not lower the price. S.O.P. for most businesses out there.

It would allow them to make that much *more* money? No, but it might get them closer to breaking even.
