Title: Gothella
Name: Simon Wright
Country: Australia
Software: Photoshop
Gothella is a character designed for a comic a friend and I wrote last year. We played around with the idea but it was never finished due to other art projects. The idea was that she escaped from her planet called "goth", and came to earth where she found that she had unusual powers like magic. I also submitted this image to a book but it was never chosen. I'm open to any critique about the image.

I like her a lot, but maybe the light in the background doesn't quite match the character's.
You have to improve and study overal lightning to make your compositions more solid.
(yeah, like I'd know a big deal about it.)

I watched your gallery carefully, and most of your works, although they are good, create the same impression – as though you were watching more pictures (highly modified goth pictures of women) than observing real women. That causes two problems – very... strange female anatomy and problem of light. Some of your pictures look like painted versions of climatic matte paintings made from picks with totally different light sourses’ angles. That desintegrates compositions from the inside. You have nice backgrounds and nice persons in front, but they are “cut and pasted”. And as to the characters – sometimes it seems that into the outline can be fitted person with correct anatomy, but – the one which is fitted wont work. That goes especially to Gothella, Outside the Palace, Darklove, Devila Vampire Princess and Demonsoul. Keep up working and it should be fine – I liked compostion of Ghotic Light and Outside the Palace, (especially the way in which colour unites it).
And dont think after my comment that i can paint better ;) :P
