I need to check the status of the users display settings for "Flat Shade All" and "X-Ray Shading", store the settings, change them both to "on", then restore previous settings at a later point.

Any ideas?

string $disApp=`modelEditor -q -da $modPanel`;

int $xr=`modelEditor -q -xray $modPanel`;

//edits it

if($disApp!="flatShaded") modelEditor -e -da flatShaded $modPanel;

if($xr!=1) modelEditor -e -xray 1 $modPanel;

//returns it back

modelEditor -e -da $disApp $modPanel;

modelEditor -e -xray $xr $modPanel;
