Hello Everyone,

This is my first post here. Please check out my self-portrait at:
http://users.chartertn.net/robpauza/robhead/robhead.html

It's still in the WIP stage and I'm trying to find ways to improve it. Any comments and/or suggestions are extremely welcome.

Thanks in advance,
-Rob

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Okay, okay. I've uploaded a real photo to the webpage. :D

Error323:
I modeled using sub-patches in Lightwave via the point-by-point method. It gets pretty tedious after a while, but I like it because you have great control over how the polys flow around the object. Splines are good too for the same reason. I've never actually modeled using splines, but several people I know swear by them. I also uploaded a larger eye render plus a wireframe of the eye area for you. The eye texture is just one I painted from scratch in Photoshop. It also has applied a reflection map which reflects an HDRI environment map. The same HDRI environment map is also applied to the moisture layer of the eye with a 40% reflection/refraction blur to make it a softer and more "liquid-like." I hope this helps you. Good luck.

Thanks again everyone for the comments. More are definately welcome. Don't be afraid to be brutal with your critiques. :)

That looks very good. Almost outstanding.
To make it outstanding I think you need to:
1) Make sure both eyes look at the same thing. (I culd be wrong here but that´s what it looks like.
2) Tweek your (model) nostrils out (wider) and up a bit.
3) The tip of your chin looks somewhat smaller and rounder in real life.
4) Check the ears... they look diffrent.
5) As mentioned before, your eyebrows look more sporadic in growth. Maybee you culd use the photo to get that right, dunno.
6) I don´t think your lips portude (stick out) that much in real life?
7) The edges around the nose/face look abit sharp, smoth them out abit.
8) Sorry to say this but you have more bags under your eyes than your model.
This is nitpicking at its best! Maybee another picture would work:) Just kidding!
A handsome man you are and with a little more time there will be two of you. Good luck!

your lips are less defined (stick out less) and your mouth seems a bit wider. your ears are also more bulbous

Thanks everyone for the great comments and suggestions! :applause:

Henrik:
You're the man. That's exactly the nit-picking I was hoping for.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have some time to do some tweaking with all of your suggestions in mind.

Thanks again,
-Rob
