This sounds really interesting. Apple opensourced this really cool technology called Rendezvous. It is a zero config networking protocall that many of the printer makers have allready added to their machines in the short time the software has been available:

So wtf does this have to do with 3d :) , well this article has something interesting in it:

"Salkever said that "a prominent maker" of 3-D rendering software will release a new version of its product with Rendezvous compatibility, which will have the ability to check central processing unit usage on other Rendezvous-enabled systems around the office and send intensive tasks to the computer currently handling the lightest workload. It's a form of distributed computing with no middleman required, Salkever said. And, of course, Apple has added Rendezvous support to more of its own software products. "

Sounds like a really nice addition to a renderfarm. Since Rendezvous is opensource, it can be used on any platform.

I want parallel rendering w/o any issue even a cost free update and support etc.....

I want 100 AMD Barton in a rackmount config then press render button for 90 times faster at minimum perf gain over my single machine will be rendered!

How can I explain as clean as that! just I WANT IT!!!!

I believe, if Apple do this, any of x86 3D apps developer go builts then.

God save cheap CPU developer.... :airguitar

my only concern is does this undermine the security of a network running with rendezvous now that any tom dick or harry can get their mits on the source code?
