View Full Version : transparency maps in mental ray?
Inker123 11-17-2006, 01:20 AM For some reason, as soon as I switch my render to Mental Ray, my transparency maps cease to work. What is supposed to be transparent becomes white. It works just fine in a software render. I could just do a luma-key in comp, but it wouldn't be as good than if I could fix this issue. Is there an option that I'm missing to enable transparency maps to work in mental ray?

It's just a plain old lambert with a color map, transparency map, and bump map. I havent had a chance to tweak anything because I want to get rid of this problem first.

I seem to have fixed it. I was using just a basic sphere with a bright gray to illuminate my scene, and I had to turn off "visible in transparency" under the sphere's mental ray attributes.
