Hi people,
I'm experiencing a very strange issue with a Quicktime imported to the timeline. The Quicktime I am using is:

A screen capture
Uses animation CODEC
25 fps
800 x 520
I can play the quicktime in Quicktime player - with no problems. I can preview the quicktime in the clip window inside of after effects, with no issues either. BUT when I drag it to the timeline.. not all the frames play in sequence. Frame by framing in the timeline reveals that the clip sticks on a frame.... skips 10 - 20 frames.. then jumps to the 20 - 30th frame down the line!!! Very strange.

At first I thought it was because I was time stretching (anywhere from 80% to 40% of the original length) and hadn't applied frame blending, but that's not the problem. I've also scaled the clip down to 82%, and thinking that might be the issue - I returned it to 100%, with the same result.

Any ideas? Because I'm totally out. And I'm going to feel right stupid and or annoyed if it's something simple.

Thanks in advance

hi,
i know this odd behaviour from quicktimes exportet out of premiere 6.5 or lower versions. these premiere versions were able to export quicktimes in a very special format. that means that stillframes only need to be exported once with a kind of holdkeyframe behaviour. these QT´s were pretty small (if there were stillframes) but not really compatible to other apps like AE. try opening this QT in any app that can read it properly and export it again. if you own QT Pro this will be the first choice.

good luck,

Check the footage is interpreted at 25fps and the composition is also 25fps. Sometimes the default for these is 30fps which will give you choppy playback from the comp.
