Hello all, I am trying to finish up this piece and would like to hear any input as to how to improve it before I stamp it "finished". Thanks. :)

There is a lack of depth to your illustration. I am having trouble determining what is the foreground and what is supposed to be midground areas. The mountains in the back could be less detailed and softened to appear more distant as well. If that is a hillside on the left, I can't tell if it is supposed to be in front of the cabin and overlapping it or if it is supposed to be behind. The tree is nicely done. But, I would expect to see less detail because it is so strongly lit from behind, even though there is reflected light from the snow.

Hope that helps! :)

Heya Tatiana,

Thanks for the input - I do see what you mean about the depth, I was a little afraid of that with this subject to be honest. I'm not sure where to go with it specifically, but I will work on it and see what improvements I can make. And I think you are right about the tree detail, I didn't catch that one. Thanks again. :)

*edit* - here is an update - what'cha think??

Hmm... I see that you've added in some shadowing, but it almost muddies the mid and foreground up. I'm not suggesting that you change your palette (like adding orange), but I would have liked to see more blue tones with the morning sunlight rimming the edges of the cliff and house and the people on the hill (or are those standing stones?), particularly with such a bright sky. I think you may have obscured the back mountains a bit more than you needed to. The sky is turning out nice. :)

I've included a few image links that hopefully will better show what I mean as far as lighting and winter shadows.
